Surrogacy Maternity Insurance
Insurance purchased specifically to cover pregnancy and delivery for a gestational carrier when standard insurance does not apply.
When it is needed
If the surrogate's existing health insurance excludes surrogacy pregnancies, a standalone maternity policy may be required. These policies are designed to cover prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum recovery for the carrier.
Cost range
Surrogacy maternity insurance policies typically cost between $15,000 and $35,000 depending on the insurer, the state, and the level of coverage. Some policies include complication coverage and others do not.
