What Is a Euploid Embryo?
A euploid embryo is an embryo that has the correct number of chromosomes. 46 in total, arranged in 23 pairs. Euploid embryos have a significantly higher probability of successful implantation and live birth compared to aneuploid embryos.
Clinical significance
Euploid embryos are identified through preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A). Transferring euploid embryos improves per-transfer live birth rates to approximately 50–65%, depending on patient factors. Euploid status is the strongest single predictor of implantation success.
Common confusion
Euploid does not mean the embryo is guaranteed to implant. Uterine receptivity, hormonal timing, and other biological factors also influence implantation. Euploid status improves probability but does not eliminate uncertainty.
