What Is a Euploid Embryo?
A euploid embryo is one that has the correct number of chromosomes for its species: in humans, this means 46 chromosomes arranged in 23 pairs.
Clinical significance
In IVF clinics, euploid embryos are considered more likely to result in a successful implantation and healthy pregnancy, so they are often prioritized for transfer when identified through genetic testing methods such as PGT-A.
Common confusion
Some people believe that all morphologically normal (good-looking) embryos are euploid, but embryo appearance does not directly indicate chromosomal status.
