    What Is Beta hCG?

Beta hCG is a blood test that measures human chorionic gonadotropin levels to confirm pregnancy after an embryo transfer.

    How the Beta Test Works

A blood sample is drawn approximately 9 to 14 days after embryo transfer. The lab measures the concentration of hCG in the blood. A positive result indicates that an embryo has implanted and is producing hCG. A follow-up test is usually performed 48 to 72 hours later to confirm that levels are rising appropriately.

    Why It Matters in IVF

The beta hCG test is the first objective confirmation of pregnancy after transfer. Rising levels suggest a developing pregnancy. Levels that plateau or decline may indicate an ectopic pregnancy or early loss.
