    What Is Progesterone?

Progesterone is a hormone that prepares the uterine lining for embryo implantation and supports the early stages of pregnancy.

How Progesterone Is Used in IVF

After egg retrieval or before a frozen embryo transfer, progesterone is prescribed to thicken and stabilize the endometrial lining. It is commonly administered as injections, vaginal suppositories, or oral capsules. Progesterone supplementation typically continues through the first trimester of pregnancy.

    Why It Matters in IVF

Without adequate progesterone, the uterine lining may not support embryo implantation. Progesterone levels are monitored during treatment to ensure the endometrium is prepared for transfer.
