    What Is Embryo Arrest?

Embryo arrest occurs when an embryo stops developing during laboratory culture before reaching the blastocyst stage.

    Clinical significance

Developmental arrest reduces the number of embryos available for transfer or freezing and may reflect underlying biological factors related to egg quality, sperm quality, or embryo genetics.

    Common confusion

Some believe embryos that stop developing can later resume growth. In practice, developmental arrest is usually irreversible.
