    What Is AMH?

    Anti-Mullerian hormone, or AMH, is a hormone produced by small follicles in the ovaries and used to estimate ovarian reserve.

    How AMH Is Measured

    AMH is measured through a blood test. Higher AMH levels generally indicate that more eggs remain in the ovaries. Lower AMH levels may suggest reduced ovarian reserve.

    What AMH Does Not Measure

    AMH estimates the number of eggs remaining, not the quality of those eggs. Egg quality is mainly influenced by age.

    Why It Matters in IVF

    Doctors use AMH to estimate how the ovaries may respond during IVF stimulation. It is useful for planning treatment, but it does not predict pregnancy by itself.
